Accessibility & Inclusivity
Accessibility & Inclusivity
At Emma Kate Fishing Trips, we want customers to feel informed, welcomed and safe before they book a trip with us. Sea fishing is a hands-on outdoor experience, and every trip depends on the boat, tide, weather and sea conditions on the day.
Because of this, we encourage customers to contact us before booking if they have any access needs, mobility concerns, health conditions, anxiety about being at sea, or questions about whether a trip will be suitable.
Before you book
We are always happy to talk through the different trip options and help you choose the most suitable one. Shorter trips may be better for first-time visitors, younger children or anyone unsure about being at sea, while longer trips are usually more suited to those who are comfortable spending more time on the water.
Please contact us in advance if you would like to discuss:
* Mobility or boarding concerns
* Health conditions or medication needs
* Seasickness worries
* Neurodiversity or sensory needs
* Bringing children on board
* First-time fishing concerns
* The best trip length for your group
Access to the boats
Our boats are working fishing vessels and, unfortunately, they are not wheelchair accessible. Access to the boat may involve steps on the harbourside with a large step down into the boat, or using a ladder from the beach at low tide.
Flat calm days at sea are rare, and our boats can sometimes bounce over swell. Please bear this in mind if you are a nervous sailor, have mobility concerns, or are unsure how you may feel on the water.
If you have any concerns, please contact us before booking and we will advise you as honestly as possible.
Suitability
Due to the nature of the boats and the unpredictability of sea conditions, our trips are not suitable for children under 3, heavily pregnant women, or anyone with back or bone problems.
For our 2-hour trips, children must be aged 3 years or over. For trips of 4 hours or longer, children must be aged 12 years or over.
All children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult throughout the trip.
Beginners are welcome
No fishing experience is needed. Our skippers and crew provide guidance throughout the trip, from using the equipment to understanding what you have caught. We aim to make the experience practical, friendly and enjoyable, without assuming anyone has been fishing before.
Families and groups
Families, private groups, corporate bookings and regular anglers are all welcome. If you are booking for a mixed group with different ages, experience levels or confidence at sea, please contact us and we can help advise which trip may be most suitable.
Dogs on board
Well-behaved small to medium-sized dogs are permitted on our boats. However, some dogs do not enjoy the sensation of being on a moving or bouncy boat, so please consider this carefully before bringing them. If you are unsure, contact us before booking and we will advise you.
Our approach
We do our best to accommodate customers wherever we can safely. As a small, family-run business, we would much rather talk things through before you book so we can help you choose the right trip and avoid any surprises on the day.
If we feel a particular trip is not suitable, we will say so and suggest a better option where possible. Our priority is always to keep customers safe, comfortable and able to enjoy their time at sea.
Contact us
If you have any questions about accessibility, suitability or what to expect on one of our trips, please contact us before booking. We will be happy to talk it through and advise you accordingly.
